Foursquare, Other Social Media Boost Domino's Sales in UK
Domino’s Pizza, which operates 627 stores in the UK, credits a nationwide promotion on Foursquare that encourages users to check-in at its outlets as a key reason for its recent surge in sales. The chain reported a 29% jump in pre-tax profits in the half year period ended June 27.

Papa John's Pizza Launches Facebook Social Media Campaign
What is it about pizza chains that they seem so far ahead of other restaurant companies when it comes to using social media? Domino’s and Pizza Hut have been active for a while and now Papa John’s, the third-largest pizza company globally, is launching a social-media campaign at its Facebook site.
Called “Papa’s Specialty Pizza Challenge,” the campaign asks its fans to suggest a new pizza recipe. Incentives abound. The winner gets free pizza for life, a cut on sales proceeds of the winning recipe plus $1,000 to help market the new pizza during the month the finalists compete to see which taste the public likes best. …more…
Chicago Pizza Guy Creates Social Media ‘Domino’ Effect
On a rainy Sunday night, a Domino’s Pizza order took an hour to arrive–and then it was the wrong pizza. The angry pizza customer turned to Twitter to vent. What followed went way beyond the mea culpa tweet increasingly more common in business today.
Ramon DeLeon, managing partner of seven Chicago-area Domino’s stores, saw the tweet and contacted the customer immediately. The correct pizza was already on its way. But DeLeon went way beyond, tweeting the customer the next day with a link to a video apology, followed by providing pizza for 350 people at the customer’s social club. …more…

Naked Pizza, an all natural pizza place in New Orleans, has a great story to tell about using social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook in its marketing efforts – which include posting a billboard outside the store encouraging people to follow on Twitter.
