Foursquare has become a battleground. In this corner, wearing sequined trunks, me. In the other corner Tonia.

Your blog shows your age
According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project the percentage of online teens who blog has dropped 14 percentage points in three years, from 28% in 2006 to 14% in 2009. Blogging amongst adults has remained steady, at roughly 10% over the same time period. Behind that number, however, Pew finds that blogging by young adults (18-29) has suffered a steep decline, offset by a rise in blogging by those of us on the wrong side of 30.
Facebook knows I'm a 44 year old chump

I’m 44 years old and don’t really care who knows it. But serving me ads that target me as a 44 year old chump that will click through (yes, I did) and share my email address (no, I didn’t) on the promise of beta testing an iPad — well — that’s a bit much.
'Max the Tampax' Mobile Social Campaign Designed to Connect With Teens
Procter & Gamble has created a mobile social campaign designed to strike down young girls’ prejudices about tampons and educate them about the benefits of its Tampax brand, while leveraging the intimacy of the mobile phone and the adding viral elements to leverage teen girls’ propensity to share.
P&G tapped mobile marketing agency Phonevalley and media planning company Starcom MediaVest Group for the launch of the Tampax mobile campaign to reach girls ages 13-17 in France. It supports a Web campaign launched to promote the character of “Max the Tampax” and create a community around him on the Skyrock.com Web site.
Does Social Media Leadership = Social Responsiblity?
On Tuesday night, January 12th, the 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti entered my home via Twitter. It was there that I read early reports of the widespread devastation and saw the horrific photos of the collapsed building (including schools) with people literally buried alive. Beyond breaking the news, it was also via Twitter that I saw the first Tweet for Haitian Relief via texting 90999 on your cell phone, thus delivering $10 to be routed to the Red Cross. This message was ReTweeted and posted to Facebook, and as of last Friday, over $10 million had been raised. This is a great example of how social media can be leveraged to galvanize citizens to action, and, to do so rapidly and easily. More importantly, this humanitarian crisis has brought out the best in people worldwide, as they dug into their own pockets to help a country greatly in need.

I like what Google did and I like how they did it.
What they did.
What Google did, telling China where to get off, marks a geopolitical epoch: I can’t think of another example of a commercial entity risking it’s commercial interests to stand against tyranny. …more…
Young Americans Fuel Recent Facebook Growth
As Facebook reached 350 million users worldwide, its largest single source of growth in December 2009 was still the U.S. Inside Facebook reported that the US gain of more than 4.5 million monthly active Facebook users was the highest number of any country. Because of the large installed base of US Facebook users, it represented a 5% gain, compared with 10% growth in countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia. This puts Facebook’s U.S. monthly active user audience over the 100 million mark. …more…
